The main attraction to see the endangered Sumatran Orangutan in their natural habitats.
The trek starts at 8.30 am after breakfast.Our guide will pick you up from your hotel / guesthouse. In the jungle, you will have the opportunity to see orangutans and other mammals including gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, long-tail Macaques, pig tail Macaques, Hornbill and Great Argus (the Sumatran peacock).
Your guide will inform you about the flora and fauna of Leuser National park, including the medicinal uses of plants .
This trek is good for people who have a limited time in Bukit Lawang, or who want to see the orangutans but prefer not to sleep in the jungle. On the one day trek you will spend around 5-6 hours walking through the jungle; giving you more opportunity to absorb your surroundings and observe animals in the wild. You have the option to walk back to Bukit Lawang or raft down the river on rubber tubes with your guide helping steer the way.
